A Native American Medical Student’s Journey to Medicine, Research, and Health Policy

Alec Calac is a Native American MD/PhD student at UC San Diego School of Medicine wherein his journey from an undergraduate pre-medical student, research gap years, and training has turned him into a leader for his community. He has found and addressed isolation as a motivating factor of his advocacy for the greater inclusion of Native Americans in medicine and public health. In this talk, Alec will share more about the work that he does as a medical student and advocate for Native American and other marginalized communities.
